We’re here to explore the restaurants, dishes, people, neighborhoods and stories shaping Southern California’s food and beverage scene — from established favorites to new concepts, hidden neighborhood spots and places we simply think are worth learning more about.
We’re Not Here to Tear Places Down
Food is subjective.
A dish one person loves might not be another person’s favorite. A restaurant can have an incredible story, a talented team or something genuinely interesting about its concept even if every single thing we try doesn’t necessarily land for us.
That’s why Echo Cravings isn’t built around harsh reviews, star ratings or trying to catch restaurants doing something wrong.
When we choose to feature a business, our goal is to find the story worth telling.
Maybe it’s a dish they’re especially proud of.
Maybe it’s the family behind the restaurant.
Maybe it’s an unusual concept, a new opening, a longtime neighborhood favorite or simply something that caught our attention.
And if we visit somewhere and genuinely don’t feel like we have a story we can stand behind, we’d rather not force one.
We Want to Celebrate the People Behind the Food
Restaurants are more than menus.
They’re chefs, cooks, servers, owners, bartenders, bakers and families putting an enormous amount of work into creating something people can experience.
We want Cravings to give those stories more room.
That doesn’t mean every article needs to sound like an advertisement.
It means approaching food coverage with curiosity, context and respect for the people behind it.
Southern California Gives Us a Lot to Explore
Southern California is difficult to define by one cuisine, one neighborhood or even one city.
That’s exactly why we love it.
One week might take us into Little Saigon. The next could be a neighborhood pizza shop, a new sushi restaurant, a bakery, a food truck, a cocktail bar or a restaurant we somehow drove past for years without noticing.
We want Echo Cravings to reflect that range.
What You’ll Find on Cravings
Expect restaurant discoveries, first looks, what-to-order guides, hidden gems, chef stories, food trends, neighborhood guides, new openings and the occasional deep dive into something we simply became curious about.
Sometimes the story will be about a restaurant.
Sometimes it will be about one dish.
And sometimes it will be about the people and culture surrounding the food.
